San Francisco Couples Workshop
Hold Me Tight Workshop for Couples
Led by Dr Michelle Gannon and Dr Sam Jinich
Hold Me Tight Workshop welcomes ALL couples. At the San Francisco Couples Workshop led by Michelle Gannon, Ph.D. and Sam Jinich, Ph.D., you will learn about Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) and Attachment Theory which are well-researched and empirically validated models that help us to understand why we have conflict in our relationships. More importantly, you will learn and experience how to repair and get close again after disconnection and tension. Couples can learn in the Hold Me Tight Workshop how to create and build more loving, secure attachments and relationships.
Do you want to feel more accepted by your partner and have less conflict in your relationship? Would you like to feel like your partner is more accessible, responsive and emotionally engaged with you? Is it time to improve your relationship and learn how to communicate in new ways that promote better understanding and closeness?
Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) and Attachment Theory recognize that couples are often doing the best they can to be emotionally attached to each other even in the midst of conflict and disconnection. Unfortunately, the strategies that we often use may cause more distance, conflict and distress. We may not know what we feel or need. We may not know what our partners are really feeling or how we can be there for them in loving, positive ways. Many of us need help learning and experiencing how to be more accessible, responsive and emotionally engaged with each other. We want to feel more acceptance, closeness and connection, and have less conflict with each other.
At our San Francisco Hold Me Tight Workshop for Couples, you will be guided through seven private conversations. We will share the highlights of Attachment Theory and how it can help you and your partner to understand your relationship better and learn how to reach out to each other in more positive, loving ways. We will show you video samples of real couples engaging in each of these conversations, and then you will have the opportunity to try the conversations on your own with the assistance and support of your workshop leaders and other EFT-trained therapist helpers.
Although we encourage questions and comments at our Couples Workshops, you do not need to speak in the group if you do not wish to. All of the dialogues with your partner will be done in private, as we always emphasize privacy and comfort. We welcome people of all backgrounds, ages, faiths and sexual orientations. We encourage you to seek therapy if you are in high relational distress.
These popular Couples Workshops are based on the books: Hold Me Tight: Seven Conversations For A Lifetime Of Love and Love Sense: The Revolutionary New Science of Romantic Relationship by Dr. Sue Johnson, the Founder of Emotionally Focused Therapy.
The research findings, stories, new ideas and exercises offered in the books, Creating Connection, Love Sense and Hold Me Tight are all based on the new science of love and the wisdom of Emotionally Focused Couple Therapy (EFT).
The Hold Me Tight Workshop led by Michelle Gannon, Ph.D and Sam Jinich, Ph.D. offers new ways to see and shape our love relationships.
Hold Me Tight Workshop for Couples is ideal for:
- Couples who want to improve and enhance their relationships
- Distressed couples who are stuck in conflicts and disconnection
- Couples who are interested to learn about Attachment, Hold Me Tight and Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) experientially.

Rising Strong™ Workshop led by Beth Jaeger-Skigen, LCSW and Michelle Gannon, Ph.D. is a personal growth workshop based on the research of Dr Brené Brown. In a weekend retreat-like setting, we will explore, learn, practice and implement Brené Brown’s important work.
Beth Jaeger-Skigen, LCSW and Michelle Gannon, Ph.D. have helped individuals, couples and groups for over twenty years to create more meaningful lives and satisfying relationships.
Beth and Michelle are both Certified Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) Supervisors and Therapists in San Francisco Private Practice and Faculty at the San Francisco Center for EFT (SFCEFT) and Esalen Institute, Big Sur.
Beth Jaeger-Skigen, LCSW and Michelle Gannon, Ph.D. are honored to be Certified Daring™ Way and Rising Strong™ Facilitators and excited to bring Brené Brown’s work to their clients, workshops and trainings.
Rising Strong™ is based on the simple physics of vulnerability: If we are brave enough, often enough, we will fall. When we take risks in our lives, we will inevitably fall and experience disappointments, hurts, failures and heartbreak.
Rising Strong™ Workshop is a research-based program about what it takes for us to get back up, live a more wholehearted and satisfying life and how owning our stories of struggle gives us the power to write daring new endings. By participating in the Rising Strong™ Workshop with Beth and Michelle, you will have the opportunity to explore how to live bravely every day by showing up in the arenas of your life and relationships to become the best, most authentic version of you.
Dr. Brené Brown is a research professor at the University of Houston where she holds the Huffington Brené Brown Endowed Chair at the Graduate College of Social Work.
Brené Brown has spent the past fifteen years studying courage, vulnerability, shame and empathy and is the author of three #1 New York Times Bestsellers – The Gifts of Imperfection, Daring Greatly, and Rising Strong.
Over the Rising Strong™ Workshop Weekend, Michelle and Beth will guide the group with many positive experiential exercises, personal exploration, videos from Brené Brown created specifically for Rising Strong™ participants and opportunities for personal reflections and growth in a safe, supportive, positive and fun environment.
The Rising Strong™ Workshop is designed to address your personal goals, relationships, professional and creative lives.
